A product is a
made thing.

Most writing about digital products skips the part where you actually make one. It goes straight from "pick a niche" to "collect the money", and the middle, the part that is genuinely hard, gets three bullet points. This blog is the middle.

Why This Exists

I kept reading posts that told me a Notion template could earn four figures a month, and none of them told me how long it took to build, what the store took, or what happened to the ones that sold nothing. Those are the only three things I actually wanted to know.

So the rule here is simple. If a product gets written about, it got built. If a number gets quoted, it came off a real invoice or a real payout, not an estimate that sounded good in a headline.

How A Post Gets Made

Build the thing first. List it somewhere real. Watch what the platform actually charges once the money moves, which is rarely the number on the pricing page. Then write it up, including the parts that went badly.

That order matters. Writing first and building later is how you end up with advice that only works in a blog post.

What You Will Not Find Here

  • Screenshots of a dashboard with the date cropped off
  • Product ideas nobody has actually built and shipped
  • Platform fees waved away as "small"
  • The word passive, used seriously

Who Writes It

Kevin Gabeci. I build and sell software and digital products, and I have shipped enough duds to be suspicious of anyone who has not.
